hue // monochrome styles: T-shirt dress

Hello beautiful people, hope everyone's doing well! We have just finished our classes and exams for the year and are definitely enjoying the extra free time we get.

In this post, we have a new piece up for the hue // monochrome styles series, this time round featuring the t-shirt dress. It has been such a trend in the western countries for the past year, and finally it's hitting the stores over here. As they all come with different patterns and colors, with curved or hi-low hemlines, it is pretty easy to find one that suits to your liking.

And of course, we jumped on the trend and got ourselves one. It is such an easy and comfortable dress to wear, especially on those lazy days when you still want to look chic. So here's our take on styling the t-shirt dress!

T-shirt Dress // H&M
Plaid Shirt
Shoes // Topshop
Gem Necklace // Factorie

For me, I think the trickiest part about a -tshirt dress is to find one that is of suitable fit and length. I've always wanted a t-shirt dress seeing how comfortable and casual they look, but I had a lot of trouble finding one that suits me. Most of them are just too long or too big, which is why I was so happy when I got this H&M one because they're just right.

While the slouchiness and casualness of the t-shirt dress is it's appeal, it can also make the outfit looks too plain and normal. Therefore, to dress up the outfit, I added on my plaid shirt and tied it around the waist so it'll add more shape to the look. It's also nice that the shirt looks like a skirt tied that way. Since I'm going with the casual edgy vibe, I added on the gladiator-ish shoes with the gem necklace, which completed the look.

Dress // H&M
Khaki Jacket // Padini
Shoes // Taiwan Street Market
Necklace // Taiwan Street Market

As much as I love how loose and comfy the t-shirt dress is, it does bother me a little on how shapeless it can be. So to give the look a bit more shape and structure, I put on this khaki jacket with faux fur collar that gives off a slight military vibe. Also, like always, I cuffed up the sleeves so the long sleeves do not drown me in.

I kept the look in this neutral color palette with greys, browns and khakis, and only added a hint of color with the dream catcher necklace. The necklace gives a pretty nice contrast with the t-shirt dress and is quite a center of attention itself. Overall, I really like how the outfit turned out!

So that's our take with styling the t-shirt dress! We hope it gave you some inspirations and ideas on how to style yours. And if you don't have one yet, do get yourself one because it is such a laid back and versatile piece!

That's all from us for this time's hue // monochrome styles, have a great week ahead everyone!

Cropped Pants

Red Checkered Crop Top // Catwalk
Black Camisole
Black Cropped Joggers // YoungHungryFree
Platform Heels // Vicnity.com

Hello people!

This was an outfit I wore to uni quite some time ago. I very rarely go this dressy (or at least in my terms) for a school outfit, but I guess I was in a mood to play around with my outfits a little. I wrote in this post that I would start experimenting with more crop tops and high-waisted pants and this is one of the results!

I have no idea what to call this pair of pants (cropped joggers? harem pants? cropped pants?), but I have to admit that I love the cutting of it. This is actually my first pair of cropped pants in a really long time and I think the high-waisted design and just-nice cropped length makes it look super stylish and fashionable. The spacious pockets are a huge brownie point as I love having pockets on any clothing. To add a pop of colour to the outfit, I paired it with my red crop checkered shirt, with the black checkers complimenting the other black parts of the outfit as well. I finished off the outfit with my favourite platform heels because an Asian girl can never go wrong by adding on some height. HAHA.

Like any other school outfit, I kept the accessories minimal with just my watch and silver bracelet. Because the checkered top is already so bright and eye-catching, I didn't want to add on any necklaces either to avoid too much going on on my upper body.

What do you think about the outfit? :)

Of silver and gold

Hey guys! Today we're switching it up a little and we're gonna show you guys the accessories that we own and also highlight a few of our personal favourites. No doubt accessories are very important in completing an outfit and we hope you can learn more about us through the accessories that we incorporate into our styles! :)

Gold Chunky Chain Necklace // H&M
Midi Rings // Forever 21
Gold Coin Choker &
White Fake Tooth Choker // Lovisa
Gold Bar Choker
Gold Elephant Thin Bangle // Forever 21

I think it's pretty obvious from my favourites that I favour gold colour accessories more than anything else! I think it's mainly because I wear the colour black a lot and gold is the best colour (in my opinon) that matches black to create a glam, elegant look, which is why I'm pretty much coveting only gold accessories.

I don't really wear much accessories on a daily basis as you can probably tell from my previous posts. I usually stick to basics, such as the gold chunky chain necklace and gold bar choker, which can be literally paired with any outfit. However, to switch things up a bit, I also have these gold coin and white fake tooth choker, usually for my edgier and more streetstyle-ish outfits. They are also great for layering over each other!

I barely wear any rings, but when I do, I usually turn to midi rings. Almost all my rings are dainty midi rings, just to add a hint of colour or bling to the outfit, haha. I usually keep my wrists free as well as I already have a silver bracelet on me 24/7 with my trustee watch, but what I like about the elephant bangle is that it's wide enough for me to actually cuff it on my arm, which adds an extra edge when I'm wearing sleeveless tops!

 Multi-chained Necklace // H&M
Gold Necklace with Silver Spikes // Juju Milky
Assorted Rings // Taiwan Streetmarket & Miss Whatever
Bar Bangle // Juju Milky
Gold Necklace with Big Chains // Juju Milky
Gold Crystal Necklace // By Invite Only

Here are a few of my favourite accessories out of my collection. I love both silver and gold when it comes to my accessories, well maybe a little more towards silver ones, just because I think they are easier to match and looks better on me. But I definitely will be building up my gold accessories collection, and not forgetting the rose golds too!

As you can see, I am more of a necklace and rings kinda gal. The necklaces on the left side give off a more rugged and tough looking outlook when paired with outfits. I would choose these to roughen up  a simple look or too add on the rocker chic outfits! The necklaces on the right side are more simple and chic with the thin and dainty chains. And I would style it with minimalist outfits that lack a little oomph. The long dangling crystal necklace is totally a great add-on piece to plain t-shirt or tanks.

As for the rings, I normally like to stack them up. The more, the merrier! But of course, to a certain extend. I wouldn't want to lug around with heavy fingers and having them hook on to clothing. The bar bangle is a really simple piece, and would look nice when stacked up with other minimaslistic bracelets and bangles as well. (Note to self: get more simplistic bracelets!)

So that's it guys! What do you think about our collection and what are your own favourite pieces to include in your outfits? :)
